Alderney Gambling Control Commission (AGCC) has released its annual report for 2021 revealing that taxes and fees collected from Alderney’s iGaming (eGambling) industry saw the island bank £2 million (€2.34 million) by the year’s end.
2021’s figures represent an increase of 14.9% over the £1.74 million (€2.04 million) collected in 2020 with Commission chairman Lord Faulkner stating that the industry continued to make a ‘valuable contribution’ to Alderney and the wider Bailiwick.
In the annual report Lord Faulkner said:
“THE EGAMBLING INDUSTRY IN ALDERNEY IS WELL PLACED FOR RENEWED GROWTH… IT IS NOTEWORTHY THAT A NUMBER OF THE WORLD’S MAJOR OPERATORS HAVE BEEN ATTRACTED TO THE BAILIWICK.”
Policy and Finance deputy chairman Ian Carter added:
“ALDERNEY’S SOURCE OF INCOME IS RESILIENT THANKS TO THE COMMISSION’S EFFICIENCIES AND STEADFAST ADHERENCE TO THE HIGHEST ETHICAL PRINCIPLES. THEY HAVE PROVED THEMSELVES TO BE A WORLD LEADER IN THE GLOBAL GAMBLING ARENA.”
Profits from all eGambling taxes and fees go directly towards the island’s capital expenditure programme, economic development initiatives, and the further development of the local online gambling industry.
The AGCC has regulated the Alderney’s eGambling (iGaming) on behalf of the states of the island since the year 2000.
Gambling companies that have been licensed by the Alderney Gambling Commission include Skybet owner Bonne Terre, Jumpman Gaming, Greentube, and Netent.
