After Genesis Global Limited was fined £3.8 million (€4.6 million), the UK Gambling Commission issued a warning to the industry.
The online gambling company was banned from operating in the United Kingdom after an investigation found severe social responsibility and money laundering issues.
According to the Gambling Commission, the suspension was lifted in October 2020 after considerable compliance improvements, although Genesis was punished with a fine of £3.8 million (€4.6 million), a warning, and an extra license condition requiring further inspection.
With a consumer who spent £245K (€295K) in three months, the firm failed to engage in meaningful, responsible gaming interactions.
Without proper checks, a customer lost £107K (€129K) over six months.
"This is a case that should be investigated," Commission Executive Director Helen Venn said in a statement.
