The UK Gambling Commission has revealed that it has suspended Bet-at-operating home's licence as part of a review under section 116 of the Gambling Act of 2005.
Concerns have been raised by the Commission that Bet-at-home has operated contrary to the requirements of the Act and in violation of its licence. Alleged failures in social responsibility and anti-money laundering processes were of special concern that led to the suspension decision.
The suspension is in line with subsection (2) of section 118 of the Act and is effective immediately.
The Commission said: “We have made it clear to the operator that during the course of the suspension, we expect it to focus on treating consumers fairly and keeping them fully informed of any developments which impact them.”
The Commission noted that the decision to suspend the licence will not hinder Bet-at-home clients from accessing their accounts or withdrawing their available balances.
In a statement on its website, Bet-at-home said: “Dear players, our operations in the UK have been suspended by the UK Gambling Commission until further notice. You are not able to register, bet, play or deposit with us at the moment.”
“Please rest assured that you can withdraw your funds at any time and pending winnings will be credited to your account. Our customer service is at your disposal for any support or clarification you may need… We apologise for any inconvenience.”
